VINTAGE 4/4 VIOLIN, CASED + BOW A very fine antique violin complete with original hard case and a fine bow. With a 35.5cm two-piece back with a lovely flamed wood, the same wood being carried through in the ribs, neck and scroll. The instrument is labelled internally which reads: ' Antonius Stradiuarius Cremonenfis faciebat anno 1716 ' The label also shows a trademark logo of AS with a cross within a double circle. The scroll rear has a carved S with word 'Academy' within. The back button has a surround of ebony The violin looks to be of very high quality, having inlaid purfling with fine bee stings to the corners. The back joint appears to have separated at some time and has clearly been re-glued, although not a precise repair with edges very slightly out of line. This is secure, and I believe purely cosmetic but it would benefit from professional attention. Otherwise the violin is in fine condition with no damage or cracks present, and is ready to play. It is complete with a 29.5" bow which is in good order. Straight through its length, with a perfect tip, wire coil grip and ebony adjuster. The adjuster moves freely and has nickel silver fittings plus mother of pearl inlay. The outfit is housed in a hard carry-case as shown. Buyer to pay postage.
