You are bidding on this extremely rare and very interesting metal calendar from "Miami's Beautiful Parrot Jungle". This calendar is from the 1950's and is in near mint condition.
The calendar is made of a lightweight metal and is painted gold in color. T are 2 lovely Cockatiels sitting on a branch with beautiful yellow in them on a bright blue background. Beneath the branch are the words "Parrot Jungle" and in between those words is a cut-out for the day of the week. The day of the week can be changed with a paper wheel behind the sign when you lift up the section with the birds (see picture). The white numbered days of the week are on a piece of brown heavy stock paper which can be flipped up as each day passes. The month is beneath that which is also controlled by a paper wheel behind the sign. This calendar measures approximately 15" long and 10" wide. T are 2 very tiny scratches on the gold. The front page of the numbers reads "The Vernon 'Lifetime' Daily Date Calendar" and gives instructions on how to use it. The Vernon Company is out of Newton, Iowa. Overall, this is a fantastic piece that is over 50 years old and it can still be used today - in 2007!!!!!!!! This calendar would make an outstanding addition to any Miami memorabilia collection.
