This auction is for a antique Adlake Reliable Railroad Lantern in very good vintage condition. Im no expert on these old lanterns but I will describe it the best I can, the top is marked Adlake Reliable and on the shade has the logo-C & N W. Ry, the shade has a couple of little bent spots but they are pretty minor and dont take away from the lantern, also the handle is somewhat bent also which you can see in the photo. Whoever owned it before me has done some cleaning with what looks like a light steel wool and left some of those little light scratches but Im sure some very fine steel wool will take it back the way it was, I doubt you can see it in the photos but I wanted to mention it. Also they got what appears to be a couple of little spots of putty or something on the shade which Ive also shown in a picture, I went over it with some very fine steel wool and some of it came off but I will leave it to the new owner. The little piece of the lid latch that sticks out has broken off but part of it is still sticking through the little slot. The little knob that turns the wick is excellent and works fine and it does still have the wick. The globe on this one I think is the best part, it has those yellow or amber tones in the glass when you tilt it a certain way and I was told means its pretty old, the globe is excellent and has no chips or cracks but Im not sure the globe is the original that came in the lantern because its marked-CM&S t P. R.y and has a embossed square around it, the letters are also embossed. It does have some of those old looking scratches in the glass but I think its just the way the globe came out when it was made. Dont let the minor flaws in the description scare you because this is a very nice old lantern and displays great, my pictures certainly dont do it justice, I tried to list all the flaws I could find so please ask all questions before you bidd, thank you.
