Up for auction is a late 1950’s/early 1960’s Altec Lansing 802D Driver with a matching H-811-B multi-cellular horn. This Driver was used by Altec in many of their best home systems and it will sound great in a tube amplified system. This driver has a heavy ALNICO magnet assembly. It is rated as a 16 Ohm Driver and has a measured DC impedance of 8.5 Ohms. The Driver is in excellent working condition and very good cosmetic condition, with some paint loss on the face of the 811 horn where it mates with the cabinet and a small scratch on the 802D Driver body. The Factory wax is still intact on the Driver cover screws, so the Diaphragm should be original. The horn has the original dust-cap gasket still in place. It has been sitting in a closet, unused, for the last 20 years. I took it out and ran it for a couple of hours prior to creating this listing and it still sounds great. As a once avid hobbyist who is slowing down as the Years catch up, I have decided to start down-sizing my collection and will be listing additional Tube era JBL, Altec Lansing and Electro-voice components in the near future.
