Vintage American Airlines Tin Toy Electra II Airplane, Late 1960s Tin toy airplane measuring approximately 15"L x 16 1/2"W x 6"H. This toy of an American airline Electra II is electric and powered by two D cell batteries. Body of plane is metal on top and plastic underneath. The propellers, engine fronts, wheels, windows and some internal components are made of plastic. Toy opens up into two pieces to insert the batteries and the on/off switch is on the bottom. Plane is marked repeatedly: "American Airlines", "Electra II" and "Made In Japan". There is one place below the tail where the plane is labeled: "Trade Mark, T.N.". Wheels have a bit of a wobble and tail is bent a bit to the right; both of which should be easy fixes. There is a loose piece of plastic on the front landing gear that we are not certain if it is supposed to be that way or not. Toy appears to be in working order, however does not turn on when switch is engaged. This vintage toy is otherwise in good condition.
