`A Treasure from Aunt Dorlie's Attic`
"KNIGHTS TEMPLAR SWORD"
Famous Historic `Maker Marked`

Offered for Auction is a Very Rare Knights Templar Sword.
Scabbard is maker marked
`AMES MFG. CO. CHICOPEE MASS.`

The Ames Co. is recognised as being one of the most
`Renowned Manufacturers` of
Military and Fraternal Swords.

`Excerpt of the Ames Company History`

The N.P. Ames Company opened its doors in 1791 at their
factory at Chelmsford, Massachusetts.
In 1832 Nathan P. Ames signed his first contract with the
United States government for Foot Artillery swords.
Thus began the tradition that exists to this day at
America's oldest sword manufacturer.

While the age of this Sword cannot be specifically stated,
I believe it is of the Civil War Era.

Sword overall length
{In Scabbard}
approximately 36 1/8 Inches.
Blade length is approximately 27 1/2 Inches.
Scabbard has a dent to the Front, about mid-way of length
{see photos}
and to lower Front and Rear.
The dents do not interfer with Sword fitting into Scabbard.
The blade does have some piting and discoloration,
but due to the historic value,
I have been reluctant to clean it
This is a Unique Designed Sword
Blade may have been Ornately Engraved,
but due to age of Sword, it is hard to determine.

This is a wonderful antique,
and would make a Great adition to your collection.

I apologise for the pictures, they seem to contain a lot
of Lighting Reflection / Distortion
