Up for auction is a set of 6 Chippendale style dining room chairs. I believe they are made of walnut, but please don't hold me to that. I have absolutely no knowledge or experience with antique furniture, but please feel free ask questions. I will do my best to answer them. I will try to accomodate bidders with additional photo's, but I respectfully request that you don't ask for them if you have no serious interest in the chairs. I am told that these have never been repaired, or restored. The upholstery appears to be original and it looks like a cat has clawed at the seats of two of the side chairs. All of them are sturdy pieces in various cosmetic conditions. Overall, I think they are in pretty fair condition when considering their age. I did my best to capture the most major damage. One of the armchairs has suffered minor structural damage to a cross member that runs between the legs. Aside from the upholstery, this is the only item that will require more than a "touch up". The other armchair is in much better shape. two of the side chairs are in less need of repair than the remaining two. The burled veneer finish under the seat cushions of several chairs have chipped in several places. The backrests, armrests and legs of every chair is made of solid wood (not veneer). These have some scuffs & scrapes that I think can be easily re-finished. The History - According to my mother, these chairs are part fo a dining room set that belonged to my Great Grandmother. It was manufactured in 1919 for her as a wedding gift from her parents. My Mother has the serving table that was part of the original set and my Uncle has the Hutch. Unfortunately, the (twin pedestal) dining table was destroyed by 20+ years of storage in my Grandmother's damp basement. Luckily, the other items were not stored with it and they survived. My mother told me that t is a marking on the serving table that says, "Made in Grand Rapids". The hutch offers nothing additional that is of any help. I did some research and could not narrow anything down. Apparently, furniture manufacturing was a big industry in Grand Rapids at the turn of the century. If anyone has any knowledge that they would like to share, I would appreciate it. are my terms: No returns - All sales are final. Shipping - I am not offering shipping for these items. The winning bidder will have to arrange for shipping, or pick it up themselves. I will assist in any way that I can with the process. Communication - The winning bidder is required to contact me within 48 hours from the end of the auction to advise how they plan to take possession and make an appointment for pickup. Payment - I prefer PayPal, but I will accept a certified check or money order prior to pickup. Funds must clear before the property will be released to the winning bidder. Please see my payment terms below. Failure to meet any of the terms & conditions outlined within this auction will result in this item being re-listed for auction. However, I am a reasonable person. So, if t are any unusual circumstances that arise, please contact me so we can attempt to work things out.
