ENTERPRISE NO. 5 COFFEE MILL GRINDER ***Over 100 Years Old ***ALL ORIGINAL*** This is an AWESOME coffee mill! It is complete and all original. The Enterprise Manufacturing Co. was located in Philadelphia, PA and was incorporated on September 8, 1866. This mill is the No. 5 mill and has the "Pat July 12, 98" embossed on the mid section of the grinder. The No. 5 mill originally did not have a hopper lid, but in the 1883 Enterprise catalog the mill was shown with the addition of the cast iron lid with a porcelain knob. Also in 1898 the word "American" that had originally been embossed on the mills was removed on all of the mills from sizes 3 through 20. The No. 5 mills were produced over the years in both a red and a maroon color as in this particular mill. The mill is cast iron set on a 9-1/2" wooden base, with a wooden catch drawer. What is interesting about this particular mill is that "U.S. Q M B" is inscribed on the front of the wooden base. I do not know what this abbreviation stands for, and if anyone does know, please let me know so I can add it to the description. The burrs on this grinder are in great shape. The in-place left side burr is inscribed with "183 Patented July 12, 98. The adjustable right side burr is inscribed "181 Patented July 12, 98". Knob on wheel that adjusts the grind size moves freely. As shown in the photo looking into the hopper, the movable stop plate is inscribed with the No. 5. The mill still shows much of its original gold toning in the paint decoration, and some of the original stenciling is still evident. Original wooden handle on the right wheel, and original porcelain knobs on the hopper top and wooden catch drawer. Measurements are: 17" high; 12-1/4" deep; width wheel to wheel is 10"; width wheel to end of handle is 13-1/4". Base is 9-1/2" square. Wheels are 12-1/4". The mill weighs 35 pounds. Shipping via UPS is preferred, however it may go USPS Parcel Post. Shipping weight will be about 40 pounds. Insurance is required on this item due to its age. THANK YOU & GOOD LUCK IN YOUR BIDS
