ANTIQUE IVORY & BAMBOO MAH-JONG(Many more pictures beneath description below) This vintage Mah Jong set comes from the estate of our sister-in-law's mother. It is known to have been in her family since at LEAST 1944. This may be older than that, but that is as far back as we have knowledge of it being in the family. (This includes hand written instructions dated 1944, and written on US Navy militay tablet paper from 1943 These tiles & counting bars are made of ivory. The tiles are backed with gorgeous bamboo & dove-tailed together. T are 146 tiles, and 116 counting bars (scoring sticks) Includes original case. The case has seen better days. Comes with original key, but the key is broken, as is the lock. Missing top handle, but the hinged top stays closed when side latches are latched . T are 5 tray levels that fit in the case. Some of the side tabs have broken off over the years. This also has 2 wooden dice, and 1 tiny ivory die....as well as sme old chinese buttons (not sure what they were used for.) We have many pictures to show condition. Some of the tiles are not as smooth as others, but we don't see any with cracks. The bamboo is in great condition. The entire set could use a good cleaning, but we thought that would be better left for the new owners to do. (we've watched too many Antique Road Shows w cleaning has ruined the value of items)

Thanks for viewing our auction A nice fellow ebayer had concerns that these might be bone & not ivory. After some further research on the internet, we found a great site at /mjfaq/ivory.html . It suggests that this set we have up for auction is probably BONE, and NOT Ivory. We are very sorry for the confusion. Because the item has bids already, ebay will not allow us to change the title or description...only add to the description. We have added this finding just 15 hours adter we started the auction.....we hope that the rest of you bidders see this disclaimer. Again....sorry for any confusion.
