Hi! This is a beautiful lamp that I believe is made from milk glass, but I am not an expert on those things so I cannot guarantee it. It is a thicker white creamy glass that is very smooth (looks just like milk!!). It has a floral pattern painted on it in blues and browns. The front is much more elegantly painted and the back has a simple floral bouquet (last picture). The glass then has a glaze that matches the color of the metal that goes up and stops around the bowl part of the globe - it gives it a very dynamic look. This lamp will light up on the bottom for a night light, or just on the top, or both. All work. T is some chipping of the yellow paint on the metal throughout, it will need a little touch-up, but for the less picky, it is also just fine the way it is. The tightening bolt for the globe is on the right side. T is not one on the left side. T appears to have been a hole once t for one, but at first I thought it was painted over
