Welcome to an Old Time Vintage Quilts listing. All of my quilts come from East Texas, which is w I'm from. Occasionally I might list one from somew else, which I will state. I find them at estate sales, auctions, flea markets, and sometimes just from friends. They are all hand quilted authentically in the United States, unless otherwise stated. I grew up watching my granny and other ladies quilt at home and at church, and using these types of quilts and I love them. Description: This is a 1940's antique vintage Sunbonnet Sue Applique quilt and it is a beauty! The sweet little girls are hand appliqued onto a muslin or feedsack background. The girls dresses are feed or flour sack and their arms, shoes, and hats are other cotton. The flowers and leaves on their hats are very nicely embroidered. The sashings and are pink and purple strips and it has a very narrow back to front banding. It is beautifully hand pieced with tiny stitches and nicely hand quilted. Small purple and pink 9 patch blocks make up the posts. The backing is muslin or feedsack. Dimensions and Material: This is a cotton quilt that measures 73" by 88" in size. Condition: This quilt is in good condition for its age. Some of the Sues have some tiny tears that are not real noticeable, Also a few small tears on the strips around the edge.
