Welcome to an Old Time Vintage Quilts listing. This is a 1940's antique vintage Sunbonnet Sue Applique quilt and it is a beauty! The sweet little girls are hand appliqued onto a muslin or feedsack background. The girls dresses are feed or flour sack and their arms, shoes, and hats are other cotton. The flowers and leaves on their hats are very nicely embroidered. The sashings and are pink and purple strips and it has a very narrow back to front banding. It is beautifully hand pieced with tiny stitches and nicely hand quilted. Small purple and pink 9 patch blocks make up the posts. The backing is muslin or feedsack. Dimensions and Material: This is a cotton quilt that measures 73" by 88" in size. Condition: This quilt is in good condition for its age. Some of the Sues have some tiny tears that are not real noticeable, Also a few small tears on the strips around the edge. The top edge is slightly frayed on the fold of the edge. It has some spots and stains that I believe were on the fabric when the quilt was made. It is medium weight, good and sturdy. These quilts are all vintage and have in most cases been used and tfore most are not perfect. They are just great old quilts that need a good home and someone to love them. This quilt would be a great addition to your vintage quilt collection. Thanks for looking and Happy Bidding.
