The Quilt being offered is an absolutely Pristine, Early Appliqued Quilt in a Victorian Style. The Pink and Yellow Hollyhocks are bright in color, as is the greenery of the leaves. All appliqued laboriously to a white background. The backing is also white, and how beautiul the white hand quilting is on it. The patterns of stitches are simply georgeous! I don't know if t is any batting, it is not a very thick quilt. Appears to be all cotton, weighing about 4 pounds. It may have been made using a vintage to antique quilt Kit, as blue dots, (a template), is showing, and the artists' steady, meticulous hand followed them precisely. About 12 stitches to the inch, front and back. This stunning beauty measures 78" x 92", and is unused, unwashed. T are NO HOLES, NO STAINS, NO RIPS. With an abundance of hand quilting, and an olive green border, (1/4", all by hand), this rare beauty will bring the utmost charm to your home. Of course t is a faint yellowing onthe folds on back which should wash out. I was tempted, but think the new owner should decide whether to throw in washer, or dry clean. An all handmade quilt of this age and quality is a rarity, so don't miss your opportunity to own this one. Insurance is a must, priority shipping advised.
