vintage art deco ancient Egyptian faience coral geometric bead bracelet 863Gorgeous piece with a letter of provenance from the purchaser in the early 1940s. The note is primarily written by "Hassan Brothers, Curators of Artistic Jewellery Antiquity Dealers" (Cairo) and states that the "light and dark blue porcelaine beads were found at ?ell-?l-Amarena 18th Dynasty 1350BC King Akhnaton's reign" and "the red coral beads were found at Assiu?s (upper Egypt) . . . nearly 400 years old" There are som additional pencil notes on the letter some of which refer to other pieces . . at the bottom of the letter refering to this piece: "brought from Egypt, early-mid 1940's by Eric George William Knight"size - inside measurement is approx 6.75 inches and is just over 1 inch wide 28mm, 12mm faience beads, 20mm coral beadscondition - very good - the metal work is in excellent order as is the clasp mechanism (an unusual square pull pin), the coral beads are all excellent, one of the dark blue beads has a 1x2mm end nibble, three of the lighter beads have end chips two of these are to one side only the third has reduced the bead to 9mm (these could be restored in a manner similar to ceramics restoration) The note has multiple crease lines, it is easily legible, though some of the lettering is a little flowery!
