I really can't say enough about this incredibly beautiful piece. It is two-tone, carmel and cherry red, Bakelite in a classic Art Deco design from the 1930's. The Bakelite is in excellent condition. T are no cracks, chips or crazing; but it could use a good polishing with Simichrome to bring out the luster. The carmel color has a wonderful translucent marbled look when backlit. It stands 4" tall and has a base measurement of 4-7/8" wide x 1-1/4" deep. The chrome ring is just under 3" in diameter. The face is a wonderful mottled ivory with a blue border and a center blue ring. The temperature guage is black and the humidity guage is red. Both appear to be working just fine. The crystal is in great condition with the exception of a slightly v-shaped scratch (approximately 1/8" above the RA in the word temperature) that measures under 1/8". T is also a 1/2" scuff line (very thin thread size) just to the upper right of w it is marked Taylor. These really do not detract from the piece, or jump out at you when you look at it, but I want to be as accurate as possible. A remarkable item that is sure to please, whether your a collector of Bakelite, barometers and thermometers or Art Deco. All items are described to the best of my ability and are sold "as is".
