For auction is this High End estate item, solid BRASS ART DECO, filigreed sculpted floor ashtray which stands 28 1/2" tall, top to bottom. The solid brass base is OCTAGONAL and cut as illustrated in listing photos. The symmetry is extended to the top glass ashtray insert base which is also Octagonal with a single cigarette arm on its edge. The top has a solid brass sculpted, ornamental Greyhound in a proud standing position, tail tucked politely between its hind legs. The upright shaft is exqiuisite. Between the top platform and the first colored bakelite partition the shaft is 4 sided with corners bevelled and the curved surface in between filigreed with a diamond shaped design. It is dramatically contrasted with the next short 1 1/2" separation between bakelite partitions with a flat surface and yoke-like collar holding the longer 6 sided piece of bakelite in place, adding to the stunning Deco design. The Octagonal base is remarkable with its flat but etched edge work 3/4" high border and intricately stepped and sculpted surface in relief. The glass ashtray insert dish is original with a pinwheel cut bottom which fits into a 1" deep seat for stability and look. Beneath it is the solid brass upper base with what appears to be some sort of medieval pattern in the metalword. The floor base measures 10 1/2" x 7" and is 8 sided. It stands 28 1/2" high from the floor surface to the top of the Greyhound Sculpture. The top paltform is 8 1/4" x 7", the ashtray dish has a 5" diameter. The Greyhound Sculture is 7 1/4" x 6". The undercarriage of top and bottom base is signed: FLOR 580. An outstanding piece which will draw attention wver it is placed and in whatever environment, personal or commercial venue.
