Western Electric VINTAGE 1949 WESTERN ELECTRIC TELEPHONE MODEL 302 "LUCY" PHONE Up for bid is this beautiful old rotary telephone produced by WESTERN ELECTRIC. These Western Electric model 302 telephones are a classic example of the art deco styles of the late 1930's and 1940's. Designed by famous industrial designer Henry Dreyfus, the 302 served the Bell System from the late 30's until the mid 50's. It is also referred to as the "Lucy phone" because it was used many times on the "I Love Lucy" sitcom, which first aired on television in 1951. This telephone features a metal housing, a bakelite handset and a 5H dial with a metropolitan style, porcelain dial face. The housing is in very good condition with no damage or repairs of any kind. The handset is in good condition with no chips or cracks. There is some light fading of the numbers on the dial face consistent with age and use. This telephone has an incredible gloss finish that will look great in your retro decorating scheme. Dimensions: Base: 5 inches wide by 7½ inches long. Height: 4½ inches without receiver, Typical dial 5-H, handset. The telephone has not been tested but was working perfectly when put into storage some years ago.
