You are bidding on a great looking toast-a-lator. I looked it up on the internet and as far as I can tell these were started being made in 1938. The bakelite is in perfect condition, as far as I can tell. T is an on/off switch on one side and t is lever on the other side that slides for the darkness of the toast and this has a bakelite knob on it. The Darker and Lighter is still perfect looking and the numbers 1 through 7 are all in excellent color. The cord is original and it is brown with off white stripes that go around it. T are two parts of the cord that have black tape on it and I did not remove the tape but I am assuming it is t because some of the fabric cord has come loose. I plugged it in and it does heat up immediately. We do not buy bread so I had nothing to put into it but the coils definitely turned red and when I turned the switch to off if immediately turned off. It has a little circle with glass on each side of the toaster but I am not sure why that is t other than to see the red coils. I am not a toaster collector so I have no idea about this toaster. I bought it at an estate sale of someone who was a huge collector of everything and I thought this toaster was awesome looking. T are no dents in the chrome but it needs to be cleaned and polished. I am sure it has been sitting untouched for quite some time. You have read more
