VINTAGE ARTS AND CRAFTS PILLOW TOP POPPY EMBROIDERY

Up for auction this week is a wonderful vintage Arts and Crafts style 1920s or 1930s stamped pillow top. The pillow is a fabulous poppy design with 3 full bloom poppies and 3 buds. The green border also has trailing vines and leaves in the pattern. T are black stamped lines that were meant to be embroidered, probably in black silk floss. The top appears to be linen but it could be a linen cotton blend or all cotton. The circle is approximately 19âe in diameter from green edge to edge. T is a scalloped border stamped on the outside âe" the big poppies extend out into it. The diameter to the outside of the scalloped border is about 19 ½ inches. Condition of the top is very good. T are some faint brown stains on the outside edges of the top, outside of the pattern areas (in the part meant to be cut off when completed). T are 3 tiny faint pinhead sized dots inside the border pattern. These could be part of the weave and they are so faint they donâe(tm)t really detract from the top.
