I was lucky enough to find 3 beautiful Arts & Crafts era linen pieces this week. Please check my other auctions too. This long runner or center tablecloth is made of heavy quality linen that is dark ecru in color. It is finished off along the sides with hem stitching and both ends have this amazing crocheted lace design that is so representative of the Arts & Crafts era ~ T are dragons on each side of a tall fancy urn and all the open work tightly done crochet and lace surrounds it all. I hope my photographs give you a good idea of the detail in the design but you can't truly appreciate it until you see it in person. T are also inserted open work designs across the bottom and 4 tassels across each end. The tassels are tightly crocheted with some of the fringe being tightly braided ~ magnificent. The design that I describe with the tassels is across each end. The entire cloth not counting the tassels measures 20 ¾ X 51 inches. The main design area measures a little over 10 inches square. I can't conceive of the hours of work that was hand created in this very intricate design. It is in excellent condition with no holes, wear or stains and the design? Astounding!
