Vintage Aztec Solar Calendar Hanging Wall Plaque

This is a detailed hand painted museum reproduction of the 25 ton, 11' 1500AD Sun Stone sculpture that was dicovered in Mexico City, the original massive stone is now on display in the National Museum of Anthropology & History. The Aztecs/Mexica believed that the sun struggled daily against the forces of darkness. They aided the sun through human sacrifices. I am not sure of this items composition. The daughter handling the Estate says her Mom bought this in Mexico & it is made of some type of marble stone. She is not sure if it was made by the artist Angel Ceron. If she finds more info on this, I will add it to listing. It measures 8" across & 1/2" thick. It does have a small fleabite near the bottom green edge. Has many colors compared to those I have seen that are only offered in a sandstone. T is purple, green, yellow, red & a beautiful gold. It does have a metal hanger on the back & a sticker which reads 41205. It is rather heavy. Packaged weight is 2lbs. 3oz.
