FROM 1955 A VINTAGE EXPERIMENTAL BACCARAT MILLIFIORE PAPERWEIGHT RARE , IN FACT, ONE OF A KIND. In October 1951 an old millefiori paperweight dated 1853 was found in the ruins of an old church at Baccarat which was destroyed in WWII. It was made by Baccarats magnificent master craftsman of the time, Martin Kayser. It contained 233 canes and has been known ever since at BACCARAT as the "Church" paperweight. By this time , however, Baccarat had lost the art of making true " Millefiori" and it took years of research and experiments by then production manager of the factory, Guillame Chaumeil, to finally succeed towards the end of 1957 in making a few fine Millefiori weights, some were marked #1 to #9 others were dated 1955 , 1957, they are all considered to be experimental NOT FOR SALE and part of the learning curve of the Master Guillame Chaumeil. None of these however were distributed commercially. In 1958 Baccarat started to sell these Millefiori weights commercially. This weight came from a collection of 25 brand new ( this vintage) baccarat paperweights. It is an unusual find. PLEASE SEE ALL MY OTHER OFFERS JOHNJAY5, THANKS. I WILL SHIP INTERNATIONALLY.
