HEDI SCHOOP California PotteryOne of the most talented artists working in California in the 1940s and 1950s was Hedwig "Hedi" Schoop, born 1906 - 1996. In 1933, Hedi Schoop fled Nazi Germany with her husband, composer Friedrich Hollander, and immigrated to Hollywood California. Her pottery business was opened in 1940 and closed in 1958 after a fire destroyed many of her pottery molds.This is a beautiful and quite RARE pair of Ballerina's.In wonderful condition.One of our little girls is playing with her cat while the other is with her Poodle dog.Beautiful pastel blue shades, what appears to be original pink ribbon for the toy rope to the cat and leash on the dog. Girls are dressed in colorful ballet outfits with silver hi-lites on closing and trim. The piece with the cat is marked on the bottom with a red stamp "Hedi Schoop California". The piece with the Poodle is not stamped.Girl with Poodle dog measures 9" tallGirl with cat measures 8.25" tall.What a wonderful addition to your California Pottery collection or for the Ballet / Ballerina enthusiasts.
