~*~Hello and thank you for looking~*~ This lovely and very rare textile is an antique hand-woven homespun grain sack fabric from Europe that dates c1900. Very rare Black stripe!! This textile would have been woven to use as heavy grain sack fabric and is woven using both hemp and natural cotton. This textile has a twill weave and the tone of the hemp is a dark natural tone and the natural cotton is a pale natural tone. The stripe is a beautiful pattern! It is a very heavy weight. This fabric is ideal used for a table runner or you can see the last photograph shows some wonderful pillows that a customer made using another length of this wonderful fabric. Because of the cotton and linen combination, I suggest that this fabric is only dry cleaned as the cotton will have a different shrink rate than the hemp. Both sides are woven selvage and the ends are cut. This textile is in as found unwashed condition with light storage dirt. The last 11 inches of this fabric has storage marks and should dry clean beautifully, however may not fully. It is a rare and beautiful textile .Measurements: This lovely fabric measures 2.66 yards long by 17 inches wide CONDITION: please see above for specific condition details ~*~ ~*~ ~Please see my store page “ About Hand-woven, Homespun Yardage” for more information on these wonderful textiles ~For large projects like the sofa, plain linen can be used on the sides and backs!! I can usually match most rolls~ please email should you wish to discuss~*~ I have already imported all of my textiles into the USA from Europe, so I have already paid all Customs and Duty charges for you! ~*~ so there are never any customs and duty charges on my parcels sent to the USA! ~*~ My shipping is fast, you can expect to recieve your parcel within 2-3 working days after payment to the USA ~*~* ~*~These textiles are, by nature, Eco-friendly! The average age of these textiles is 100 years and they were grown before the use of pesticides ~*~* they were naturally home grown, home retted ( in local lakes and ponds) and woven by hand. These textiles are being re-cycled today and showing off the extreme craftsmanship of past generations! Yet another feature that makes these textiles extremely eco-friendly is their durability. These textiles were designed to endure generations of constant use~ and will have an extremely long life. The timeless beauty of this linen and their extraordinary quality make these textiles the perfect choice for any home~ and an environmentally friendly choice~*~ ~*~This wonderful fabric has so many uses:~*~Upholstery, headboards, bedding, cushions, curtains, clothing, Roman Blinds, bags, ~ so many wonderful sewing projects~*~ ~*~The woman weavers of yesterday would spend their evenings weaving these amazing rolls of linen. It took the average woman 1 night to weave 60 centimeters ( 24 inches) of linen ~*~ These rolls are 100% machine washable, on warm..if there is visible dirt, just add a bit of Oxywash! I like to add Snuggle or similar fabric softener to the final rinse, for added softness~although not necessary~ They are so easy to wash on normal wash cycle, simply spin dry then remove when wet. Roll the linen tightly and let sit overnight. In the morning unroll and allow to dry naturally~ this presses the linen and there is usually no need to iron ( unless you prefer it perfect). If the stripe is very bold, please test before washing to be sure that the stripe will not bleed. If at all in doubt, best to dry clean~*~ They can be either air dried or dried in the tumble dryer for a softer touch~ Pure linen or hemp rolls tend to have no shrinkage, the rolls with cotton tend to have some shrinkage. These rolls are tough and sturdy, built to last.....and last and last!! ~*~ Hemp is built to last for many many generations making it a lovely textile for creating family heirlooms~*~ All of my linen rolls are produced using natural fibers. Natural fibers have the irregularities and subtleties that are inhere...
