This auction includes a 1950's (19"w x 16"d x 9½"h w/o flags) nice pot metal back bar display featuring a baseball theme of "safe" at the plate involving an animated bottle, can, and keg. It also includes 2 original flags, which have some bends from attic storage. The statue does have minor paint loss for its age and it is a little dusty.
Blatz Brewing Co. was established in 1850 unveiling Blatz Beer in 1851. The beer was produced until 1959. There is slight damage to the left foot of the catcher. The statue is missing a small piece of the metal base (please see the pictures). It's only visible from the rear and is the reason that the one player moves a little bit. It doesn't come out of the base, only wiggles slightly if you jostle it. Again, the overall paint loss is average for its age, most of it limited to the edges. The only major loss from the front side is on the umpire's face - gives him character ;) Both of the flags have great color retention on both sides. It's common for one side to be brighter than the other due to lighting exposure, but these are even. The thin flag is creased at the top of the pole (see pics). The Blatz flag has a slight crease in the middle, nothing major (see pics). Check the condition closely in the photos.
This will be a great addition to any beer lovers collection and is a great piece of Blatz memorabilia.
