Up for bid-this is an unusual item that I ran across-it is a book with several different books inside. It was published in 1949. It measures approx 9" x 9" and unfolds tri-fold. The cover is cardboard covered with black cloth.It has straps/clasps that connect and close it-also made of black cloth.The first paragraph on the inside cover reads as follows"This book is frankly experimental. T have been other picture books on Japan, including similar material individually more appealing photographs and more literate text. But this is the first time, to my knowledge that an attempt has been made to publish a book made up of short photographic stories or essays, each complete in itself" Inside are 14 separate soft cover booklets 1.LACQUER 2.RICE 3.TOKYO 4. This entire item appears to be in very good condition-normal yellowing from age on outside of booklets. Inside are still white and unmarked.. One clasp on the cover is missing.All text in is English.
