This is a very old boot jack that I purchased at an estate sale. It is 14 3/4" long , 3 1/2" wide and 4" tall in the open position. The top and bottom are wood. The claw mechanism and hinges are cast iron. When the top is up, the claw opens. The back of your boot goes into the claw. When the top piece is stepped on, the claw closes grabbing your boot so you can pull it off. Great conversation piece, well made, great design, but I wonder how hard it would be to balance on the top piece while pulling off the other boot that is in the claw... Wonderful useful antique and terrific decorator item... Use the FREE Counters 1 million sellers do - Vendio!
