Vintage Brandt Cashier Coin Bank Cash Register #8 The Brandt Cashier Coin machines were in use in banks and businesses after their introduction in the early 1900"s. They were invented by W. Brandt., a clerk in a local bank in Watertown , Wi . At that time, weekly pay was given out in cash ($4.56 a week?). To put the pay together for each employee, the clerk would have to count out the coins several times to insure accuracy. This was very time consuming. He came up with a mechanical machine that would accurately count out the least amount of coins to give the total amount required. The machines used in banks were cashier types which gave the total amount. The other types were changer machines that were used in business which gave out the change for the purchase from the amount tended. This machine is nicely polished. T is no coin holder. It has new rubber feet. All keys move. As pictured.
