Stunning solid brass Peacock Fan Fireplace Screen. Stands about 27" tall and nearly 38" with fans spread out. I know this is an older piece, but not sure of exact age. Other auctions list these as made between 1920 and 1950. I'm no expert, so I'm not positive. The man's face on the finial marks this as a Victorian or English style piece of brass artwork. I have not polished this piece as some like the "antique" brass look. This piece could be polished with brasso to bring out a nice shine that would really catch the sunshine as it pours into the room. The fans are very delicate and will bend easily. This is extremely minor considering the age of this item and it has probably been moved around alot in the past 30-50 years. The latches to hold the screens in place when folded are intact. The screws holding the latches and handle may have been replaced as they are brass colored but are not brass. (a magnet sticks to them) As you can see in the pictures-this is a remarkable piece and read more
