Vintage solid cast brass Punch & Judy Nut Cracker or Nutcrackers, with each character on either side, lovely figural nutcracker of these famous old characters. A heavy piece for its size at just under 4 and 3/4" inches tall, sold to me as antique (and very likely is!) T seems to me a possible old makers mark but the mark is almost worn, I cannot tell but I am guessing they are English made, I believe t is a partial incised mark on the inside of Punch, it looks like the last letters of "England" as AND but again , the mark it is very worn inside. The nut cracker is sound and works fine as far as I can see, a nice patina to the brass with a bit of verdigris beginning on the inside. I've not polished it and do not plan on doing so- will leave that up to you. A wonderful find for nut cracker collectors and with the holidays at hand!
