Here is a rare and excellent Brayton Laguna "Mammy" cookie jar from the 1940's. This very collectible cookie jar was made by the Brayton Laguna Pottery company in Laguna Beach, California. This company was most famous for their amusing and well detailed figures some of which were commissioned by Walt Disney Studios. This great cookie jar was based on the "Mammy" character in the movie Gone With The Wind. The cookie jar has been in my family for many years and we are the sole owners. Measures 13 inches tall to the top of Mammy's turban and is approximately 8 1/4 inches across on the bottom. Mammy is wearing a cream colored apron and green plaid dress with a green turban and gold earrings. The jar is in overall excellent condition. There is one small chip on the bottom edge as seen in the pictures with no other chips or cracks. There is overall very fine crazing on the jar that is hard to see but is not unusual for this old of a pottery piece especially since this great cookie jar was used for what it was made for. There is a slightly darker craze line on the front of her apron. All the paint is in fine condition with still vibrant colors. The Brayton Laguna stamp has worn off but is still very faintly there on the bottom. There is also an L marked on the inside of the rim of the lid. This great Brayton Laguna cookie jar is an excellent read more
