Welcome to the auction for my Windsor Popular No1 5 string Banjo. This banjo was made by the Windsor banjo company around 1920. This is a classic British Banjo which has a beautiful "Old time sound". If you type" Windsor Popular No 1". into utube there is a great clip of one in similar condition being played. The banjo is in great condition given its age. I have left the original vellum skin, signed by Arthur Windsor, It has aged colour from use, but produces a lovely warm tone. The Tuners have been recently upgraded to modern nickel plated, planetary tuners from Andy Perkins (Andy Banjo). Also the 5th string tuner has also been replaced with a modern tuner( see photos). The original 5th peg tuner had been broken., which resulted in damage to the fingerboard, however this has been expertly repaired (See photographs). This is a cracking banjo which plays really well, I am only selling as recent move has resulted in a lack of space, so we are all having to thin our family instrument collection. It comes with its original case which no longer locks, but does the job. It will come well packaged, & I will drop the bridge for safer transit. Will post with Royal Mail services. Why pay silly money for a modern banjo when you can have a classic British banjo, built by craftsman. Which is only going to increase in value as the years go
