This light is in perfect working functional condition. The new xenon/krypton bulbs listed above are included and will provide 360 watts of lighting. I would strongly suggest using a dimming circuit or using less than 6 bulbs. Wiring this light is straight forward and will require one wire to a positive post (brass) and the other wire to the negative post (brass). The wire goes into the light through an updated watertight connector provided.
MOUNTING
You have several options with this light. At the very top is a thick cast eye which allows the light to be hung. The light could be set on a post, table, shelf or any flat surface. The light could be permanently mounted to a piling type of post. Basically, it is up to your imagination.
CONDITION
This bronze ship's lantern is in working condition and is an excellent example of an expensive, real cast bronze fixture. This has the typical marks, scratches that an old light would have and certainly wear's its history very well. This is not an imitation, replica, copy, or some type of nautical theme light. This light was manufactured by L.L. Rowe Company in Massachusetts. The company has been manufacturing lights and other electrical related marine components since 1870. This is a light worthy of any collector or for any maritime purpose.
VALUATION
This light was purchased at a maritime auction in Connecticut in 2005. At the time, the estimated value was assessed at $855.00. We purchased this light for about half the estimated value, for $419.00. Now, after four years our plans have changed and we will be sorry to see it go to a new home. Our loss is your gain! The bulbs which were purchased cost over $70.00 with shipping. The light was also made fully functional which was not reflected in our purchase price. We have priced this light to sell at just $279.00.
Giving Back to Help Others:
In these difficult economic times is when we must think of others more than at any other time, these charities really need our help. My wife and I support several charities by selling items on eBay. We take time to select charities that we believe do a wonderful job, have a low expense to donation ratio, and perform services and/or care in areas of our interest and values. For this auction, we are donating 10% of the sale of this Bronze Ship's Light to CANINES for Disabled Kids. Purchasing this Ship's Light will help support this great organization that does so much to help the needs of disabled children that are provided fully-trained service dogs.
