VINTAGE BURROUGHS COMPANY BANJO CLOCK WITH GEORGE WASHINGTON AND MT. VERNON PICTURES. This vintage banjo clock is 13 inches high to the top of the eagle. T are some nicks and small scratches on the wood, but the covering on the clock is clear (if t are any scratches on it, they do not appear to the naked eye). T are some scratches on the coverings on the pictures of George Washington and his home, Mt. Vernon, but they do not detract from the pictures. The brass side decorations seem to be still pretty bright and shiny. I do not know what kind of material the eagle decoration on the top is, but t is some tarnish on the wings--I did not try to clean it. The face of the clock is clear, and it says "MADE IN USA" at the outer edge. It does not appear to be working, and probably could use some help from a good clock repairman. T is a metal piece just below the clock on the back for hanging it on the wall. T is a paper label on the bottom of the back that says, "No. 51 T - Banjo A strictly American style of clock originated by Simon Willard, America's premier early clockmaker, patented in 1801. George Washington's head and his Mt. Vernon mansion are the most typical types of decoration. The Burroughs Company". This neat old banjo clock would be a great addition to any vintage clock collection, and would look great hanging on the wall in your home. Happy Bidding!!
