Vintage Bus Trolley Car Streetcar Mechanical Fare BoxAn oldie and a goodie, especially if you remember jumping onto the platform of a slow-moving streetcar. Drop a coin or token through the perforated top and it hits the cone-shaped bell on the way down. Coins would pile up on the metal floor behind the glass walls until the conductor pushed the lever down and they dropped into the locked compartment in the base. T's a keystone connector on the back that slid into a bracket so it could be removed at the depot. Heavy and well made but it has been repainted, covering up the ID plate on the front. T is NO KEY but the drawer is unlocked and slides open without a problem. No maker's mark that I can see. Stands about 13" tall by 6" square. In good, used condition, shows its age, signs of normal use and wear. Some surface rust on the bottom. SOLD AS A COLLECIBLE ONLY SOLD AS IS Please e-mail any questions.
