Very nice etched blade California Bowie Knife. The blade if very clean, and has not been cleaned since I purchased it 35 years ago. It reads: A CALIFORNIAN ASK FOR NOTHING BUT WHAT IS RIGHT AND SUBMIT TO NOTHING THAT IS WRONG. This is followed by an American Eagle underneath which is etched: I CAN DIG GOLD FROM QUARTZ and CALIFORNIAN BOWIE KNIFE. The ricasso of the blade has a stamped hallmark which reads: THOMAS BLAND VOL KNIFE GEN. JACOB PAT. The blade is approx. 7 3/4 inches long and 1 inch wide, overall length is approx. 12 inches. Looks like a silver plate or nickel knife handle. Very good overall condition for a knife from this period. The cross guard is a little loose. No sheath. Please see photos for additional condition and grade. Posted with eBay Mobile
