Drop forged over 100 years ago in a Sabatier factory in Thiers France from virgin steel (Not recycled steel like is used today) These pieces are a real find. They were located in a warehouse owned by a gentleman who purchased an entire Elephant Sabatier factory in Thiers France years ago, had the entire contents loaded into containers and shipped over here. The blades are straight with a full tapered tang. These blanks are virgin forged, the edges on the blades have not been ground or worked in any way. The blade measures 10.25 X 2.25 inches and is a whopping 1/4 inch thick at the bolster. This blade reminds me of a “Lobster Splitter”, ½ Cleaver ½ Chefs Knife. The blade is not marked. The overall length of this knife blank is 15.25 inches. Total weight is 15.25 oz. The blade is straight with a full tapered tang. This blank is virgin forged, the edge on this blade has not been ground or worked in any way.
