signed Steuben Huge Angel or Damsel Fish designed by Frederick Carder & Sidney Waugh mid 1930's love and kisses... The BIG KAHUNA , don't let this one get away...for your consideration is this giant Carder Steuben Angel or Damsel Fish sculpture with a hint of Art Deco. A famous design from the mid 1930's hand of the founder of Steuben, Frederick Carder and the sculptor Sidney Waugh and a worthy museum piece. This massive fish would be a gorgeous addition to your collection and very appropriate decoration for your oceanside home (or if you just wish you lived near the ocean or some warm seas) or perhaps a special treat for someone ichthy inclined. This magnificent and stately fish is in superb condition with no chips, cracks, scuffs and on the closest inspection, no scratches. T are some interior threads and bubbles in the glass, a hallmark of handmade glass from this era. The winning bidder will be thrilled with this work of glassmaking artistry. This very large fish measures 10.5" tall, weighs almost 7lbs and is signed "Steuben" and will come safely wrapped in its vintage grey flannel steuben bag. Note the correct height and detailed design of the fins on this piece. This Carder Waugh Fish is listed with a very fair starting bid for an item of outstanding design in superb condition and no hidden reserve ! According to the 1998 edition of Thomas Dimitroff's Frederick Carder and Steuben Glass , page 330 values this Fish at $3000-$3500 (a copy of this page is pictured below and will be included). Now adjust this for almost 10years of upward inflation.Steuben Glass is the premier American glass company founded by Frederick Carder in 1903. It is the worlds foremost artisan glass house. Steuben glass continues to be handmade by American craftsmen at the works in Corning NY. Steuben glass is frequently the United States' gift of State to foreign dignitaries. Steuben markets no "seconds". Items that do not meet their exacting standards are destroyed by being smashed in a bin. Steuben is a luxury brand and they have no "sales". Please email me if you have any questions. Thank you for considering this item. I have a reputation for selling art glass of the highest quality, 99% of my feedback is based on sales of Steuben Glass, you can bid with confidence. Please see my other Steuben items listed on Ebay this week. I pay Ebay extra so that you can enlarge the photos, please do so and take a closer look at the details in this beautiful piece of art glass. (this is Steuben design #7698 and is shown in both the 1982 & 2003 Madigan Steuben Glass reference books as well as the Thomas Dimitroff book mentioned on the glass of Frederick Carder, a copy with text from page 75 of the 1998 edition of the Dimitroff book, showing two of these Fish, is shown below--you are bidding on ONE fish.) I visited the Corning Museum of Glass recently and noticed that one of these Carder/Waugh fish is prominently displayed in the foyer of the entrance to the Frederick Carder Gallery.
