Vintage Carl Schlieper Survival Comanion Survival Knife

Offered for your consideration is a rare Survival Companion from Carl Schlieper, one of Solingen's premier makers. This was a limited edition knife that is of exceptional quality and is very difficult to locate. This piece is number 2,895 and I believe this knife was limited to 3,000. This example has seen very light use and remains in excellent condition. It's an outstanding, all-around survival knife that offers superb quality, top-notch performance and exceptional versatility. The blade is very thick (3/8") and was beautifully executed. It has an aggressive grind and is equally at home chopping tent stakes or skinning/dressing game. The blade appears to have been very lightly sharpened, likely just on the stone. The edge is free of any nicks, chips, or sharpening marks and is very sharp. The spine features 3-1/2" of razor-sharp cross-toothed saw and aggressively milled thumb ridges. The storage compartment cap retains its original "O" ring and seals tightly forming a waterproof storage area. The handle is of some type of high-density resin and is free of any problems. This knife has been very well cared for and shows no signs of abuse or harsh treatment. The blade has a few very light hairlines, but no heavy scratches or gouges. The knife is in excellent, original condition and has never been cleaned, buffed, or polished. The sheath is the original and is in excellent condition as well with just a bit of verdigris around the rivets. This will wipe off easily and t is no damage at all, just some light storage wear. The original sharpening stone is also in the sheath. This is a very high quality sheath for a factory knife. The blade is 7-1/4" and the knife measures 11-7/8" in overall length. An excellent example of a premium quality survival knife from a very desirable maker!!
