Lovely Vintage Hand Carved Dragon Footed Tilt Top Table Age of the table is unknown , t are no marking on the table to identify w or who made it, wood is not painted black it is just really dark with a reddish tint to the wood. Measures 28" tall (with top up its 39" tall), octagon shaped top is 21" across, three legs base spread 21", pedalstal is 2 1/2" to 4" width, table weighs approx 18 lbs. Made of a unknown type of wood, all hand carved and planed, can see saw marks on back of table top, can feel the hand planed top smoothness, wood is really dark in color t are a few chips on ears of dragon wood t has a redish tint to it. The top has a carved border around the octagon featuring three temple looking buildings, birds within scrolled plants, and what appears to be mounds of leaves. T are a few minor scratches on the top that should buff out. Table top pivots on wooden pegs, top has been reinforced to the pedalstal with some screws, the hinge that locks top down has been replaced with a modern style latch. Pedalstal base features three dragons elaboratily carved with scrolled work and three crane styled birds between the dragons, the dragons are looking over their backs with their mouths open,their backs are carved in depth with scrolled leaves in great details, the legs are dovetailed jointed to the pedalstal no screws can read more
