Vintage Carved Faux Ivory / Ivoried 12" Japanese Girl Figurine Ivoried - was the term used by the antique appraiser back in the late 1980's when was required to get an itemized detailing for insurance purposes I do not know really how to described her - but will try her coloring is a soft ivory or off white - unsure why digital pictures portray a pink tinged to her. Her head is slightly tilted and her heir is piled high on top of her head besides a strand the runs down her back from the nape of her neck; there is a flower at the temple in the front that accents her hair. She hold a fan in one hand which is ornately etched and accented with a long rope tied with a bow and at the end of it each strand has tassels. Her hand detailing is intricate and the long pointed fingers are whole She is dress in elegant Japanese traditional attire; the garment as a print pattern etched on it in places and the creases are highlighted in blue-black The carving is firm and sturdy with a solid feel to it she stands approximately 12" high - and to me he has exquisite detailing. There is only one visible defect where it has been broken and glued the one panel of her dress see pictures. I have not attempted to repair - has been this way since I have had her (1972) Just recently I gently cleaned off some of the glue but not all as to keep the piece read more
