Antique cast iron kettle with trivet. This auction is for an old kettle, very heavy in cast iron, with a 4-legged iron trivet. I have no idea as to how old it is, though I'd guess it may be late Victorian - we bought this about 20 years ago and it was described as being of that vintage then. We never tried to 'improve' the piece, so it comes with knobbly bobbly paint and rusty patches - I know some people like to rub down and re-black such pieces, but we quite like the character of the obvious wear. It could be treated to that kind of facelift if you wish, but for now, what you see is what you get, and there's no hiding anything. Having said that, this is a very chunky piece of hardware, and despite being rusted, it is not rusted through so it's very solidly intact. There is no maker's name or identifying mark, just what may be a pattern number on the trivet base Not much to add really - check the pictures, ask questions if you wish. Kettle is about 30cms / 1 foot from base to top of handle, and about the same from rear to tip of spout. A great piece of vintage ironware. As stated, this is heavy - about 5 kilos packed - so postage by Standard Parcels will be around £10. Please feel free to ask for further details, questions welcome and .
