Up for auction is a vintage Catalina Pottery clam shell bowl. The bowl measures 15.5" x 12" and is a soft white on both sides, which is seldom seen. In 1919 Wm. Wrigley Jr. purchased Catalina Island, sight unseen, and began developing it as a get-away destination for his wealthy friends. He discovered the unique clays on the island, and opened a pottery factory. Catalina Pottery was produced for many years and was wildly popular, and still is today with collectors. The line's sturdy construction makes it ideal for everyday use, and the nouveau style is timeless. My mother worked in Catalina in the 30's and picked up many pieces. The bowl is in excellent shape, with no chips, cracks, or crazing. If you have any questions about the item, please ask 24 hours before the auction ends.
