This auction is for a very old celluloid doll. I found a doll that had the same eyes as this doll and it had it's box and the box read "Petitcolin, France." She has such a distinctive face that she very well may be a French celluloid. She is 18" tall and is jointed at the neck, shoulders and hips. She has such a beautiful face! Her eyelids are wax covered and she has long lashes (a few missing - see pic). Her mouth is open showing a whole row of upper teeth and a felt tongue. She is in desperate need of re-stringing. I took a picture of the inside of her legs where the stringing is so that you can see there is floating type piece by the string. I believe this was made this way so that one could string her. Both inner legs look the same. Other than that area, I don't see any cracks or dents. The celluloid is an orangish color. I have no idea why it would look like this. I purchased her from an estate sale so do not know her history. Obviously, someone cut her hair at one time but she can easily be re-wigged. I'm not sure if the hair is mohair or human hair. Her dress is wonderful and is still crisp. I believe it is made of organdy. There is a wide organdy ribbon at the sides of the dress that ties into a large bow at her back. She is wearing white panties that don't look original. The elastic is also stretched out. Her shoes and socks read more
