Vintage CHARLOTTE RHEAD Bursley Ware Candle Holder

This is a great Art Deco candle holder by Charlotte Rhead for H.J. Wood at their Burslem factory . The Wood Family's heritage dates back to the renowned 18th century Staffordshire potter Ralph Wood. Charlotte started her career at Wardle & Co. In 1905 she moved to Keeling & Co. and then worked as art director at the tile makers T & R Boote. Her career then took her to Wood & Son with her father and later to A.G. Richardson ( Crown Ducal ). The candle holder is decorated in a slip-trail style with flowers and foliage in orange and yellow against a creamy background. It stands 2.25" tall, is 4" across the base and is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration. On the base is the Bursley Ware mark along with a facsimile signature of Charlotte Rhead. It also has an impressed number 223. Airmail postage to the U.S.A. would be $8.20; to the United Kingdom, Australia or other international destinations would be $14.60, surface mail $7.50.
