Vintage Chater Lea Heavy Service Bicycle or Motorcycle 48 Hole Rear Hub This is a Vintage Chater Lea 48 Spoke / Hole Heavy Service Rear Hub. I assume this a rear hub and it is missing the cog and lock ring. I am not sure if this is a Heavy Service Bicycle or Motorcycle Hub, it's heavy duty for sure. The Hub has Script CL on the side and you can barely make out wording that looks like Chatter Lea London in the middle of the shell. Hub is 48 spoke and takes regular size bicycle spokes. I got the hub with out bearings, the races inside were nice and Installed bearings, she is stout and spins smooth and buttery. The axle's threaded part is 7/16" diameter and goes up to 5/8" through the middle. The hub has one axle nut and washer. Worn Antique Patina appears to be nickel plated. Hub comes as Shown, shows wear, plating loss and flanges have dents but no breaks. Interesting Old Hub asking price will be high, but feel free to make offers. !
