Up for bid is a vintage cherry amber bakelite and glass necklace. It contains a total of 11 faceted cherry amber bakelite beads in graduated sizes. The smallest is 3/4 x a trace over 1/2 inch. The largest is the center bead that measures 1 1/2 x 1 1/8 inches. The small round beads on the strand measure 3/8 inch across. The round beads are not bakelite. They are glass. The necklace needs repair. The cord deteriorated at one end of the strand resulting in the end bead and clasp coming off. I saved the bead but not the clasp. I don't know if you could add a bit of cord to the existing cord and attach the loose bead and add a clasp or if you will have to completely restring all of the beads. The bakelite beads tested positive for bakelite by using the "409" test. The bakelite bead that is the third from the end of the strand has chip/flakes around the opening where the stringing hole was drilled. The round glass beads have an occasional tiny nick. This necklace needs a little TLC but it will be a gorgeous piece of vintage jewelry when it is repaired! Thank you so much for looking at this auction and have fun bidding!
