What's For Auction

Vintage decorative knife, asian in origin, probably Chinese but t is no indication of origin on the knife. The knife blade is 7 3/4" (19.5 cm), the handle (including hilt) is 3" (8 cm), and the case is 12 1/2" (45cm) x 2 1/4" (6 cm) x 1 3/8 (3 cm) high. The case is pressboard or cardboard, covered in embroidered red silk, lined in plush red velvet. The scabbard and handle are open-grained wood, trimmed in a non-ferrous metal (pewter, perhaps? Don't think it's silver...). On one side of the scabbard is inset the design of a dragon; on the other, a phoenix. Overall, it is in very good condition and a very attractive piece from a gentleman's estate in St. Louis.
