VINTAGE CHINESE SILVER GILT FILIGREE & JADE EARRINGS

Gorgeous vintage Chinese earrings made of vermeil (silver gilt ~ high carat gold over sterling silver) wire, intricately twisted to form a filigree setting for the large, carved jade insets. These date from circa 1920's and are screw-back earrings, but can easily be converted by your jeweler into pierced. The earrings are 1" in diameter and are 1-1/2" long. They are in excellent vintage condition with no damage, missing parts or loosening of any of the pieces. They are marked 'Silver'.
The 1/4" deep setting has coiled vermeil wires forming intricate flower designs, and even the base of the setting has a floral design woven in it. The carved jade piece is set into the base, which is hinged and opens up to reveal a 1mm deep secret compartment, large enough to hide a tiny, folded secret love note, a coil of a loved one's hair, a 3/4" diameter photo, or perhaps a poisoned tablet to secretly drop into an unfaithful lover's goblet of wine! The jade piece of both earrings is 3/4" in diameter and have a simple design carved in them. Each earring has a vermeil filigree floral setting at the top inset with a 5mm jade cabochon. The dangling pendants are suspended from this floral setting by a short vermeil chain. The jade is natural and undyed jadite. You do not find these types of vintage Chinese earrings very often. These are very intricate, beautiful, delicate & feminine earrings. You will be absolutely thrilled with them!
