This necklace is exquisite! The centerpiece is a beautiful, soft yellow, double dragon carving. The dragons are holding a ball---dragons in Chinese lore are the symbol of strength and protection. The centerpiece is jade, I believe, as are the beads. Two of the beads are carved in the Chinese happiness symbol, the clasp is an aragonite flower button. The reverse of the carving is a creamy ivory so the necklace can be worn either with the soft yellow side or the ivory side. The overall length of the necklace is 17 1/2 inches, the center carving is 3 x 2 inches and the beads are 14mm. The necklace is pristine and looks as if it's brand new and never worn. For the next month, I will be selling many pieces of fine jewelry, some from my friend, some that I bought at the Paris shows, some from designers in Europe and others from my collection. Most of it will be sold at very low starting prices so it's a good time to buy high-quality, well-designed jewelry for holiday gifts. If you're not familiar with this type of knotting, most one-of-a-kind, high-end necklaces at Saks and Neiman Marcus are fashioned this way. It is a time-consuming process and thus is only used on more expensive necklaces. My friend, for whom I'm selling this necklace, has piles and piles of jewelry, bought most of her necklaces at Saks, Neiman's, museum shops, antique stores, etc. and paid from $350 up to $1500 for them.
