Up for auction is this beautifully crafted twill Heart basket made by Zula Chitto, Choctaw Indian basketmaker from Choctaw, Mississippi. This basket is woven entirely from split river cane. The front and back of this basket are woven in a centered twill pattern. The spokes are gathered into groups of 3 and woven with dark red (dyed) river cane. The basket is completed with a wrapped rim and a loop and wrapped handle in the center of the back. This basket was purchased from Choctaw Crafts by a collector of river cane baskets. This basket measures 6" side to side 7 1/2" high including the handle and 4" deep. I do not see any damage at all on this basket! It would display quite well hung on a wall. Free shipping and extra careful packing is included for this well made, traditional basket!
